To prevent your skin from being damaged due to stress, you can pray and meditate for 10 – 20 minutes every morning to lower your stress levels. Research has widely shown the role prayer and meditation plays in easing stress and by taking this step you are protecting your skin from toxic stress byproducts.

2. Stay hydrated.

More than 80% of people globally do not drink enough water. If you want your skin cells to work optimally, heal, and regenerate as fast as possible you have to drink at least 8-12 glasses (that’s around 2 liters) of water every day.   Your skin guards your internal organs and muscles protects you from disease and as the largest organ of your body your skin needs a lot of water to stay clean and healthy.

3. Get enough sleep.

If you fail to get at least 8-10 hours of sleep per day the first part of your body to suffer will be your skin. Lack of sleep will show on your skin as broken capillaries, puffiness, and eye bags or dark circles under your eyes.

4. Eat hearty and healthy meals.

If you put too much junk food in your body, your skin will often react forming acne or pimples.

Maintaining beautiful and healthy skin starts with proper nutrition. Certain diets actually make your skin age faster.

For great skin, your diet needs to consist of balanced meals to prevent acne vulgaris outbreaks and control spikes a variety of skin problems.

5. Use skin supplements.

Food alone cannot ensure that you are getting 100% of all the vitamins and minerals you need each day to keep your skin healthy. To make up for this, you should take multivitamins on a daily basis.

You can get them for cheap on Amazon or Walmart and there is no excuse. Besides improving your skin, researchers have also found that multivitamins help people live longer.

6. Use gentle skin products.  

Using harsh soaps will cause your skin to dry and can even generate sebum which is an unwanted body oil that aggravates acne outbreaks. So when washing your skin you should go for mild soaps, facial washers or shower gels with 2% salicylic acid to help exfoliate your skin gently.

 Salicylic acid is very effective in getting rid of surplus oils on your skin and keeping it well hydrated at a balanced pH level. Salicylic acid also has anti-bacterial properties and its mild acidity helps to keep bacteria from infecting your skin.

7. Quit smoking.

If someone looks much older than they are, there are high chances that they are a smoker. Smoking really adds extra years on your skin and can make you look up to 10 years older than you really are. Why do that to yourself especially if you treasure your skin?

There are many helpful guides out there on how to quit smoking but if you really cannot resist the craving, try to get nicotine gum or patches to avoid the carcinogens from smoking that have a bad effect on your skin.

8. Use sunscreen.

The sun has some positive effects on your skin such as creating vitamin D but even though your skin contains keratin to protect you from dangerous sunlight it cannot stand prolonged daily exposure to ultraviolet light.

Melanoma has various forms and they are all dangerous to your skin. Besides making you age faster, prolonged periods in the sun can result in a number of skin problems ranging from sunburn to more serious skin health problems such as cancer. Luckily, using sunscreen every day you plan to be outside in the sun for more than an hour goes a long way in preventing the damaging effects of the sun on your skin.

9. Treat your skin at a spa once a year.

Occasional skin treatments at a spa such as TCA peels, aromatherapy, and skin peels can help energize your skin cells and rejuvenate your skin. These treatments improve the ability of your skin to renew itself and TCA peels particularly increase the amount of collagen in your body which essential for healthy skin.
